Things to Do in Memphis
Famous for its blues, barbecue, history and hospitality,
Memphis has always fascinated its visitors. But the River City's traditional
allure is now part of a cosmopolitan atmosphere, where travelers choose
between soul food and prime rib, cafes and casinos.
We can't begin to do justice here to what Memphis offers,
but we've picked a few of the more famous attractions and provided links
to further information. You and your clients can have a great time in

Beale Street
Statues of W.C. Handy and Elvis Presley overlook the street
where the blues was born, and that famous sound spills onto the sidewalks
from more than a dozen great clubs, including Elvis Presley's, B.B. King's,
the Hard Rock Cafe and Isaac Hayes'.

Cordova Cellars

You can take guided tours through the wine-making process, participate
in wine tastings, increase your connoisseurship with a lecture or listen
to a live concert in the spring. The shop sells the local wine as well
as various paraphernalia, including unique corkscrews, wine coolers and
snacks to accompany your bottle of Chardonnay. Admission is free.

Largest park of its kind in an urban setting, the park offers picnic tables,
horseback riding, a shooting range, a 2 mile walking path around lake,
sailing, nature trails and a home to a variety of wildlife, including
free-roaming bison.

Memphis has many unique shopping experiences. From antiques to shopping
malls, there is something for you. Located just 7 miles North of our facility
is the city’s newest and most exciting shopping areas, and also
home to The Wolfchase Galleria, a 120 store mall including GoldSmith-Macy’s,
Dillard’s, Abercrombie and Fitch, Ann Taylor, J C Penney, Talbot’s,
guess, Pottery Barn, bebe, Gap, and Banana Republic.
The
Paintball Park

Bring your own, or rent everything you need at the clubhouse and pro-shop.
The park has six themed playing areas and $11 gets you in for the whole
day. Participants must be 10 years old or older. If you are on your own,
staff will team you up in open groups, based on skill level and experience.
Capture your opponent's flag and defend your own in the jungle, village,
or Wild West playing fields. Long pants and long sleeves are recommended,
as well as goggles, to protect you from paint splats.
Davies
Manor Plantation

The oldest home in Shelby Country, this plantation has been preserved
as it was in 1807, when the first European settlers made their way across
the Mississippi to head west. Take the family to see what life was like
in the days before indoor plumbing, separate bedrooms, electricity and
telephones. The home is located in an upscale neighborhood near the Wolfchase
Galleria Mall in Cordova. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students;
group tours are also available.
